Unjustified tariffs threaten Canadian cabinet manufacturing and our shared future​. On Monday, September 29, the U.S. Administration announced a 25% tariff on Canadian cabinet imports, set to double to 50% in January. This decision is unjustified and unfair. ​ Canada is not a low-cost country dumping cabinets at artificially low prices. For over 40 years, Canadian manufacturers like Cabico&co have been respectful, fair-market competitors, bringing value and craftsmanship to U.S. partners. Even the American cabinet industry itself — through a letter from AKCA to President Trump on September 19 — focused on low-cost imports from China, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Mexico. Canada wasn’t even mentioned.​ ​So why target Canada? Many in the U.S. industry are asking the same question. These tariffs don’t protect American jobs. Instead, they punish long-standing North American partners who have always played fair.
